Office Production Applications
- Autodesk
- 3D Studio:
- This program may "slow down" whenever you try to render a drawing. There is a patch from AUTODESK that you may get from them that will correct this problem.
- RESUMate Inc.
- RESUMate:
- This is an industry specific (Head Hunters) database program. The software has a timing loop that causes a "divide by zero" error when trying to initiate the program. Running PIPELOOP.EXE will slow down the loop process to allow the program to run. Download the pipeloop.exe file and put it in your autoexec.bat file. NOTE: the newer Windows 95 version of RESUMate does not have this problem.
Operating Systems
- Windows 3.11
- Genral Protection Faults:
- These common errors can be the result of many things but typically it is the result of some peripheral in the system. Go to the System Locks Up troubleshooting page and follow the procedures listed.
- Windows 95
- CPU is incorrect
- Windows 95 detects the Cyrix 6x86 as a 486 because the detection algorithm was not available when WIN95 was produced and shipped. This problem is fixed in PPK/OS R2 where the 6x86 is identified by "Cyrix Instead."
- EXTENDED PARTITIONS Under WINDOWS 95 - Data Corruption
- Details:
This update resolves a problem in Windows 95 which may, in certain specific configurations, lead to corrupted data on extended partitions on large IDE drives. Under the following conditions, the contents of logical drives in the extended partition may appear incorrect or corrupted. If these logical drives are written to under this condition, information may be written incorrectly to these drives, resulting in data corruption.
- The hard disk is a large ( 504 MB) Enhanced IDE hard disk.
- The hard disk is accessed using Logical Block Addressing (LBA).
- The hard disk has been partitioned into multiple partitions with the Windows 95 version of FDISK, or another partitioning utility that creates MS-DOS extended partition types 0x0E and 0x0F.
- The system BIOS supports extended INT13 functions to access hard disk devices.
- You have exited to MS-DOS mode from Windows 95 without rebooting the computer.
- NOTE: Users of computers with large IDE hard disks (greater than 504mb), partitioned into multiple logical drives, with a system BIOS that supports extended INT13 functions, should obtain this update.

Utilities
- ALL Micro
- The Troubleshooter:
- All Micro has reported that the new faster processors - Cyrix 6x86, Pentium Pro and AMD K5 will fail the RTC/clock accuracy test with version 5.0 and earlier of this diagnostic. Release 5.01 resolves this problem .
- Quarterdeck
- WinProbe:
- Always ID's a Cryix part as a 120MHz processor. Quarterdeck is working on this problem, but it does not keep the diagnostics from running.
- Touchstone:
- Wincheckit:
- This product cannot correctly ID our part and therefore the tests will not run. Touchstone is working on this problem with a patch and it should be ready shortly.
