Top-Tier Customers Adopting Cyrix's High-Performance Processors

New IBM ThinkPads To Feature 5x86 Processor;
Cyrix Powering NEC Technologies Versa 550D Notebook

HANNOVER, Germany (CeBIT 96) -- March 14, 1996 -- Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX) is helping notebook PC vendors to power up their respective lines by providing 5x86 processor-based solutions designed to boost small office and corporate portable applications. Specifically, IBM Corp.s successors to its ThinkPad 365 notebook series -- the ThinkPad 365E and 365ED -- will feature 100MHz 5x86 processors. IBM also markets a 5x86 processor-based Aptiva in Europe and Latin America. While NEC Corporation is already shipping Cyrix 5x86 processor-based desktops and notebooks in Japan, NEC Technologies Inc. will feature Cyrix 5x86 processor in the recently announced Versa 550D Notebook.

Top-tier OEMs continue to adopt Cyrix technology for their leading-edge designs. While the 5x86 processor provides entry-level Pentium processor-class performance for notebooks, the 6x86 processor provides the engine for the highest performance desktops in the industry, said Steve Tobak, vice president, corporate marketing, Cyrix. With these cutting-edge solutions, Cyrix processors offer OEMs the only performance alternatives in personal computing.

Approximately six million Cyrix processors have been installed in PC platforms, including those by Acer, Apple, AST, Canon, Epson, Fujitsu, IBM, NEC and Sharp.
