Swindon, UK -- September 4, 1996 -- Cyrix International (NASDAQ: CYRX), a manufacturer of high-performance x86 processors, announced a new Pan-European distribution agreement with Karma International, one of the main distributors of PC components throughout Europe. This relationship will immediately expand the distribution of Cyrix 6x86 processors throughout Central and Eastern Europe.
Since the launch in October 1995 of the 6x86™, Cyrix�s sixth-generation processor, demand for the 6x86 has grown rapidly requiring the expansion of Cyrix�s European distribution network.
"This agreement gives Cyrix a much stronger distribution channel throughout Europe," said Brendan Sherry, European general manager of Cyrix. "Karma International offers a strong infrastructure with European-wide coverage that will enable Cyrix to drive through high-volumes of the 6x86 into the integrator and reseller market."
Focused on a relatively narrow product range, Karma International is the largest distributor of HDD drives in Europe. "All indications are that the integration market is very excited about the Cyrix 6x86 processor and we are convinced that we will see a sharp rise in its market share by the end of the quarter," said Alvi Mazon, Managing Director of Karma International. "Karma is a fast mover of high volumes, and Cyrix is ready for a big take-off."
Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Karma International is one of the biggest distributors of PC components in Europe, with an estimated turnover of $800 million for 1996. The company now has offices in sixteen European countries as well as a centralised logistics centre in the Netherlands.
