Cyrix Announces P200 PC, First to Break 100 on Winstone® 96 Benchmark

Cyrix Advances the Standards For Desktop Computing With Full Line of 6x86™ Processor-Based PCs

Richardson, Texas -- June 3, 1996 -- Just 60 days after its entry into the PC systems arena, Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX) today announced its flagship line of 6x86™ P200 personal computers. At the same time, Cyrix announced that its high-end 6x86-P200 system configuration scored a record-breaking 100.5 on the widely-accepted Winstone® 96 benchmark suite.

Targeted at individuals and small- to medium-sized businesses that use performance-intensive applications, the new computers are powered by the fastest processor in the Cyrix 6x86 family -- the 6x86-P200+ processor.

Cyrix�s direct marketing organization will begin taking orders immediately with volume shipments to begin this month. The new Cyrix 6x86-P200 systems are built to customer order, and configurations start at $2,699.

Operating Systems

All Cyrix PCs are available pre-loaded with the newest release of the Windows® 95 operating system, including the popular Microsoft Plus! software package at no additional charge. Optionally, customers can order PCs pre-loaded with MS-DOS 6.22, Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or Windows NT v3.51 Workstation.

Pricing, Availability and Support

The starting price for Cyrix�s new 6x86-P200 PC is $2,699 for a fully-configured system that includes 16-megabytes(MB) of EDO DRAM, 256-kilobytes(KB) of 6ns pipelined-burst cache, an 8X-CD-ROM, a 2.5GB hard disk drive, the Matrox Millennium PCI-based video card with 2MB WRAM, the Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16 stereo card, stereo speakers, a 15" monitor(1280NI, .28mm), factory-installed Windows 95 and a three-year limited warranty. Cyrix provides 7 x 24 toll-free phone support through the company�s experienced technical support organization.
