Cyrix Customers Begin M1 Evaluation

Sixth-Generation Chips to Ship in June

Richardson, Texas -- March 1, 1995 -- Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX), a manufacturer of high performance x86 microprocessors announces that initial samples of the first in the family of M1 microprocessors began shipping to customers in February.

We're proud to sample the highest performance x86 microprocessor in the world -- once again demonstrating our pre-eminent design capabilities, -- said Jerry Rogers, president and CEO of Cyrix. It is a tribute to our engineering team that we've developed this 6th generation architecture that will carry us through 1997.

The M1 is superscalar and superpipelined, and incorporates performance-enhancing techniques such as branch prediction, out of order completion, speculative execution, data forwarding and register renaming. The M1 runs existing x86 code in native mode. Cyrix's M1 is positioned to provide these 6th generation features and performance to the desktop marketplace in mid 1995. Cyrix gave financial analysts the first preview of the M1 product at a meeting yesterday sponsored by several Dallas area semiconductor companies.

Cyrix Corporation, founded in 1988, designs, develops and manufactures high performance microprocessors for the personal computer industry. Cyrix has demonstrated the ability and commitment to bring innovative and compatible technology to market in an impressive design cycle time. Cyrix is a publicly held company traded on NASDAQ.
