Cyrix Announces Settlement with Intel

Lawsuit Resolved Over MMX™ Trademark

Richardson, Texas -- April 1, 1997 -- Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX) today concluded legal action with Intel Corporation over the usage of the MMX™ trademark. The settlement enables Cyrix to use the MMX mark with appropriate attribution.

This agreement also extends to Cyrixs customer base, giving its customers the freedom and safety to promote Cyrix processors, compatible with MMX technology, without the fear of litigation. This agreement puts to rest the ongoing concern between Cyrix and Intel with respect to using the MMX trademark. The two parties have agreed that Intel has certain MMX rights and Cyrix will give appropriate trademark attribution.

"This settlement is a major win for the PC industry and its users. It allows companies to adopt new technology without the ramifications of lawsuits", said Steve Tobak, vice president of corporate and channel marketing for Cyrix. "Our products speak for themselves, and we feel our customers are the true beneficiaries of this motion."

"This agreement is the result of several months of discussion between the two companies," said Peter Detkin, director of litigation for Intel Corporation. "We are gratified that both Cyrix and Intel have been able to reach an agreement which serves both our interests and ultimately benefits our customers and consumers."
