![]() Cyrix Appoints New Board Member Richardson, Texas -- September 19, 1996 -- Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX) announced today that Gary Stimac has become a member of the Cyrix board of directors. Mr. Stimac most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of the Systems Division of Compaq Computer Corporation. He was responsible for Compaq’s entry into the Server and Systems business and participated in developing and executing Compaq’s business strategy. He joined Compaq in February 1982, was elected vice president, engineering in January 1986, and vice president, systems engineering in May 1987. Previously, Mr. Stimac worked for Texas Instruments for nine years. "Gary is well recognized in the industry for understanding the needs of customers and partnering with them to provide the technological solutions they require. His active involvement will provide valuable assistance to help Cyrix gain market share," said Cyrix President and CEO Jerry Rogers. The company also announced that Jack Kemp has resigned from the board to pursue his candidacy for vice president of the United States. Mr. Kemp has served on the Cyrix board of directors since October 1993. "We appreciate the significant contributions Jack has made to the Cyrix board and we wish him well in his future endeavors," said Cyrix Chairman Berry Cash.
