Richardson, Texas � November 11, 1996 � Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CYRX) today launched an aggressive channel marketing program, and announced the signing of two new regional distributors, Globelle and Liuski International. Cyrix�s new program is designed to expand its existing distributor base while targeting increased marketshare and presence in the burgeoning reseller channel.
According to an MSI VAR survey, approximately two-thirds of U.S. resellers are involved in system assembly at the processor, motherboard or bare bones level. With the total U.S. reseller x86 processor market growing in excess of eight million units, there is a significant opportunity for CPU manufacturers and distributors to grow in this channel. "The ever-growing reseller market presents a significant opportunity for marketshare growth of our 6x86 processor," said Steve Tobak, vice president corporate and channel marketing at Cyrix. "Our strategy is to expand our channel in line with increasing demand, while providing industry leading-service to the U.S. reseller base."
